Upcoming changes - we are growing and are changing the name of our organization to
Community Energy Solutions, a Washington state domiciled nonprofit corporation, with pending 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. Our goal is to empower communities by helping them to develop energy plans which are vital and essential for their economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and community security. We are working towards creating community-supported, locally-based, renewable energy projects, as well as promoting conservation and energy efficiency. Our most recent project is Solar for Sakai. Its aim is to create a visible and productive 10 kilowatt (KW) photovoltaic system on the roof of Sakai Intermediate School.
Please visit us at www.cenergysolutions.org for our community energy projects.
It's all about Energy
In partnership with the City of Bainbridge Island, we have created this online resource that serves as a hub, connecting you to answers on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Watch for our new programs and up-coming events to provide energy solutions for you.
Our Community....

Kitsap County will have twelve homes open for a self-guided public tour,
eight of the homes are on Bainbridge Island and with one each in Bremerton, Indianola, Olalla, and Poulsbo.
The twelve homes are generating over 97,000 kWh of clean electricity and avoiding over 100,000 lbs of carbon every year.
For details on the Kitsap solar homes, click here: text description and map.
For any other questions, please contact the Kitsap County coordinator: Joe Deets at 206-855-4893, e-mail: info@bienergysolutions.com.
Our Island, Our Choices....
We have produced an educational film "Energy Choices on Bainbridge Island". You will hear energy experts talk about simple energy efficiency tips, solar water heating, photovoltaic system, and passive solar design that work in the Pacific Northwest. In addition, three Bainbridge High School students talk about their concerns of global warming and their future. See islanders taking matters into their own hands by implementing renewable energy systems and energy efficiency measures to reduce carbon footprint. Check with Bainbridge Island Television (Channel 12) for showings. DVD copies are also available at the Kitsap Library, Bainbridge Branch.

The Bainbridge Island Community Solar Program A new renewable energy fund aims to place solar electric systems on local schools and other public buildings. Get involved. Did you know that there are over 12 homes on Bainbridge Island that get their energy from the sun? This is more than 5% of the total number of private systems installed in the state of Washington. According to an August 16, 2007 Seattle P-I article: Green Power - The New Generation, there are 234 households in the state of Washington receiving the state's renewable energy production incentive rebate. Something for us to be proud of! |
